Aguinaldo Carols

CtTTBB a capella (SATB version coming soon)
4:12 approx.

An aguinaldo is traditionally a folk carol present in several Spanish colonized countries, where a group of people go from house to house to sing. In the Philippines, the aguinaldo has come to refer to gifts usually coins, cash or candies received by children who go caroling. Sa May Bahay (In a Home) and Mano Po, Ninong (Respect to You, Godparents) are two of the most popular songs that are sung when kids go caroling. This arrangement was commissioned by Anna and Edmund Piquero and their allmale ensemble, Koro Ilustrado.

Sa May Bahay

Sa may bahay ang aming bati

Meri Krismas na maluwalhati

Ang pagibig pag siyang naghari

Arawaraw ay magiging Paskong lagi

Ang sanhi po ng pagparito

Hihingi po ng Aguinaldo

Kung sakaling kamiy perwisyo

Pasensya na kayot kamiy namamasko.

In a Home

Were wishing you in your home

A splendid Merry Christmas

When love reigns

Christmas will be every day!

The reason were here

is to ask for a Christmas gift

If it happens that were a bother

Please bear with us for were just Christmasing.

Mano Po, Ninong

Maligaya, maligayang Pasko kayoy bigyan

Masagana, masaganang Bagong Taoy kamtan

Ipagdiwang, ipagdiwang araw ng Maykapal

Upang manatili sa atin ang kapalaran

At mamuhay na lagi sa kapayapaan

Mano po Ninong, mano po Ninang

Narito kami ngayon humahalik sa inyong kamay

Salamat Ninong, salamat Ninang

Sa aguinaldo pong inyong ibibigay
