This fresh new setting of  “Alleluia,” a traditional Hebrew exultation of praise, must be equally reverent, prayerful and dramatic as it is joyous. Phrases should be thought out horizontally while keeping the vertical tuning in mind, as the piece uses some harmonic tensions and modal harmony. Lastly, take time in every breath mark to revel in the silences.
